| The Council of Public Relations Firms was formed in 1998 by dozens of America's leading public relations firms. Their goal was to create the first national association that represented the interests of public relations firms. Many of those firms remain members today.
The mission of the organization is to advance the business of public relations firms by building the market and firms’ value as strategic business partners.
These are the philosophical guidelines for the organization's activities:
Belief in the value of public relations firms
Focus on best practices and standards
Encourage and promote the highest ethical behavior
Encourage innovation
Committed to building and defining the market
Help member firms meet the needs of the market
Help expand the talent pool
Promote the common interests of member firms
